One of my all-time favorite artists is Alexander Calder. I was maybe 12 when I first saw an exhibition of his work and was immediately smitten! This 14” wearable piece of art, which I titled "Fern Gully", is a nod to my favorite childhood movie (which fostered an early sense of environmental awareness) and my fascination with Calder’s jewelry. The brass ferns are strung on silk chiffon ribbon hand-dyed with black knight scabiosa (by the one and only @carolreedmakes).  Amongst the unfurling ferns, six emeralds sparkle and glisten.
